Alston Sanders becomes the 15th Student Athlete to continue his athletic endeavors at the college level. He has chosen to cheer collegiately at Samford University in Homewood, AL.
Alston is the first cheerleader to sign a scholarship this year, and will be serve as a backspot at Samford for Coach Dixie Owens and the Bulldog program.
Although Alston is the first cheerleader to sign this year, he is not the first male cheerleader in his family. His grandfather was also a cheerleader at what was then Walker High School after returning from World War II. The fact that Alston could continue that tradition was very special to him and to his family.
Alston chose Samford because of “all the wonderful people, and great campus”. While on that beautiful campus, he will pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
